So, I’m trying to learn to draw. Seems like a valuable skill for someone who tries to design things for part of her living. So I thought I’d post a drawing or two here. Nothing like those real artists who post a sketch a day or anything. Just the occasional…whatever. I don’t have a scanner, so forgive my point and shoot pictures. If it’s a really good drawing, I’ll pull out the good camera, how’s that.
This is one of my copies of Cyrano de Bergerac. An exercise in value.

Learn to draw? You learned to draw in one class? That’s amazing. That’s a VERY nice drawring indeed, Stacey Erin.

Hey that’s pretty good Stacy. You definitely have an eye for design. Is the book actually positioned within the rectangle of the paper that way? Or did that happen when you shot the picture? My advice: be a designer even while you’re drawing. The first decisions in a drawing start with the rectangle and what you’re going to do with it (and if you’re even going to let it be a rectangle). Drawing is dividing.
good work,

The cropping is photographic on this one. My hands are pretty out of control still, so I can make only limited efforts towards composition in drawing…I don’t always know where the edges of my objects are going to end up! Baby steps…
